WOMAN CHARMS AT BUSINESS
ALLIANCE MEETING

Changing oneself for the better doesn't take so long as you might think. For Cody Susan Horton, it takes all of three weeks.

"It's the power of thought, there's magic in it," said Horton, a certified clinical hypnotherapist and an expert on the development of the human consciousness.

"The mind wants completion," she said, "and success can be achieved through focusing on whatever outcome you desire. Remember, it takes about 21 days to make behavioral patterns. Focus on whatever you desire and enrich your mind by using your imagination for what you want."

That's what Horton told some 18 members of the Mountain Business Alliance at the club's February meeting last week at the Evergreen Library. Since 1993, Horton, whose talk was entitled, "Mind Power to Success," has designed and facilitated classes to show individuals to reach their full potential. She has conducted workshops for Fortune 500 companies, and has been widely lauded for her engaging and entertaining presentations on consciously creating wealth, and developing strong rapport with clients and customers alike.

The first portion of the presentation included an in-depth explanation of the understanding of what drives and motivates people to do certain things, she said.

"You also need to start getting in touch with your feelings," she said, "and then if you read about and model your behavior on successful people, and always ask yourself, 'what can I learn from this,' you can leverage your mind to consciously leverage all this to consciously create the magic in the power of thought."

Horton stressed that with any business, success depends on how well the business owner can successfully establish a rapport with the customer and get them to buy whatever they are selling. Such terms as fascination techniques, mirrored behavior, and the creation of consent were all carefully discussed during the 90-minute presentation.

The Mountain Business Alliance (MBA), formerly known as the Mount Evans Home Based Business Association, hosts monthly meetings on topics pertinent to their membership. According to MBA vice-president Mary Meinig, the association has other interesting programs scheduled for upcoming meetings. In March, Susan Eisenhower from e-central.com will be present at a program entitled "Taming the Internet for Fun and Profit."

"I am sure we'll get into all sorts of interesting discussion areas such as security issues during that meeting," Meinig said.

In April, the club hosts Evergreener Rick O'Donnell, who serves as a policy analyst for Gov. Bill Owens.
